CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser

Disclaimer: I am not a dermatologist, just a skincare enthusiast. Seek professional advice if necessary.

What We Like

  • Perfect for all skin types.
  • Gentle and doesn’t strip or irritate the skin.
  • Sufficient product in the bottle to last you a couple of months.
  • It is non-comedogenic (won’t clog your pores).
  • Affordable.

What We Don’t Like

  • Not the best at removing makeup. Consider washing off your makeup first.

I watched a dermatologist recommend the CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser to her viewers.

She said it was especially good for those with seborrheic dermatitis. But almost anyone could use it.

I don’t have eczema, but my skin is sensitive and oily af.

So I thought, why not try it? I mean, what’s the worst that could happen?

Three years on and a day doesn’t pass by without applying this cleanser – in the morning and before bed.

It works perfectly for me, and I’m sure it will for you, too.

Here’s my in-depth review of the CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser

Packaging

2 bottles of CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser

I love that this cleanser comes in a pump dispenser cap.

Sure, it can be difficult to squeeze out product when it’s nearing completion. But the cap means you control how much cream you dispense at a time.

It’s not one of those bottles that you have to spank its bottom severally to dispense it.

You can choose between the 8, 16 and 19 fluid ounce bottles. The more the product, the longer it will last you. My 16 oz bottle lasts me around 4 months and I use it twice a day.

Lately, I’ve come across many users online complaining of purchasing fake CeraVe products.

To be on the safe side, only buy your CeraVe products through trusted sites – like the links provided in this post.

It will save you money and frustration.

Texture & Scent

Hydrating vs. foaming cleanser

This cleanser has a white, lightweight texture that feels more of a lotion than a cleanser.

It doesn’t foam up and has no scent either.

These two properties are very important to me as someone with sensitive skin. My skin tends to react negatively to fragrances and occasionally, foaming agents.

So, this is a safer option for those with fragrance sensitivities or allergies.

If you are used to foamy cleansers, it may take time getting used to this cleanser.

Formula

CeraVe cleanser’s formula is what makes it magical.

Its key ingredients include Hyaluronic acid, 3 essential Ceramides, Amino Acids and Glycerin.

Let’s break down the function of each.

  • Hyaluronic Acid and Glycerin  are hydrating ingredients that maintain the skin’s moisture balance. They keep you hydrated, plump and prevent that tight or dry feel after cleansing.
  • Ceramides form a protective barrier that keeps moisture in and harmful elements out.
  • Amino Acids support the skin’s natural repair process and contribute to a healthy, balanced complexion.

So, basically what you are getting is a combo that works for any skin type.

If your skin is dry, it will cleanse without stripping or drying your complexion.

If it is oily or acne-prone, it will balance out the oil production while soothing and calming it.

And if your skin gets red and irritated by the slightest harsh ingredients or rubbing, nothing to worry about with this cleanser.

Compatibility

The cleanser is advertised for normal to dry skins. But as I’ve said, it works perfectly for almost all skin types.

The fact that it is scent-free and non-foamy makes it perfect for those with sensitive skin.

It doesn’t dry or strip the skin and doesn’t irritate, either. I don’t see why anyone shouldn’t use this cleanser.

Takeaways

A small and large bottle of CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser

The CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser is an excellent choice for all skin types. It works for drier skin types the same way it does for oily and sensitive ones.

I especially love that it is gentle without drying or irritating the skin.

The only downside to it is that it’s not the best option for removing heavy makeup. But I’m a guy, and I don’t use much of it. So, that’s not a biggie for me.

If it is for you, consider the alternative I’ve provided below.

I have no complaints about its pricing and I commend the manufacturer for its packaging.

It is a thumbs-up all the way for me.
